He leaves behind a broken hearted mother. Out in the west, where men are usually kind hearted and generous, he finds everybody seemingly turned against him. Impossible to get work, he decides to use underhanded methods in securing enough money to return east. Dave discovers a young fellow by the name of Tom Ryan, talking to a number of his fellow cowpunchers. Overhearing the conversation, Morgan learns that Tom has just received a letter from his wife, stating that a baby boy has been born and for the proud father to return to his home in the east immediately. Tom is about to leave, when he is accosted by Morgan, who asks him if he can take his job on the ranch. Tom tells Dave to see the owner, and gives the latter some money. While so doing, Tom accidentally drops the letter he received from his wife. Dave picks it up and runs after Tom to return it. Tom gets away without the note. After seeing the boss of the ranch, and being refused a position, Dave decides to steal the ranchman's horse and proceed east as far as he can on horseback. He steals the horse and is discovered by the ranch owner. The latter instructs his cowpunchers to go after Morgan. Morgan is caught and about to be hanged, when he explains that it was Impossible for him to secure employment, and that he had decided to go back home by fair means or foul. Dave then shows the cowpunchers the letter. Thinking it is genuine, one from Dave's supposed wife, they let him go, giving him a good round sum in cash. Dave returns home where his aged mother is overjoyed at the return of her boy. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
