A brilliant idea occurs to him and he scatters about the village notes which read that a treasure is buried on his lot. Several husky individuals, full of greed for gold, visit Sam's place and dig up the ground. Three months later the potatoes are flourishing. It happens that a gang of street laborers discover one of Sam's old notes, which has been buried, and a second party of the avaricious wreck the shiftless one's crop before he can drive them away.
