The handsome head waiter loved her, and bought her...See moreThe boss should have known better than to hire a pretty little maid for cashier and maintain two amorous Frenchmen under the same roof, but he did that very thing and thereby hangs a tale. The handsome head waiter loved her, and bought her flowers and fruit. The chef, who was jealous of the waiter ate the fruit and deposited his own card amidst the beautiful flowers. This caused a little trouble and the boss arrived just in time to get into the fray and receive a few missiles on his bean. The chef was given a drubbing and sent along about his duties. But being of a warm-blooded nature, the drubbing struck in his craw and he swore vengeance. When the boss ordered a nice steak for the fair cashier the chef thought he would get even by poisoning the steak, not knowing that it was for the cashier. There was some commotion when it was found that the fair cashier had received the steak. But she was saved from a horrible death by the timely action of the head waiter.
