Before she leaves for boarding school, she hurries to the ship to say goodbye to it, her father, and Jim. Six year later, Mandy has grown to a lovely young woman. Captain Dale is making another trip and Mandy asks to go along. Mandy's school chum's brother wishes to go also, and the Captain gives his consent. Jim grows jealous at the young man's presence on board. The ship strikes a rock that tears a big hole in it and the water rapidly pours into it, and the crew, the Captain, and Mandy's guest take to the small boats, and all get in except Jim, who shows his willingness to stay with the old ship. The boats carrying the shipwrecked crew are picked up by a passing vessel, and Captain Dale and Mandy eventually arrive at Cape Cod, their home. Mandy cannot forget Jim and continually visits the shore hoping to see him. Her hope is soon gratified, and the film ends with her clasped in his arms as old Captain Dale caresses them.
