Maud seeks diversions with Jimmie, a "man about town." "Cooter" is deserted. "Cooter" has a doll which she calls "Conscience" because the eyes will keep away harm. She has one eye and her father the other. But Father drops his on the sofa by accident. Maud at last decides to run off with Jimmie. She leaves a note for her husband, but when she gets to the station she finds the eye of "Conscience" in her veil. This brings her to her senses and she goes back. At home she finds that "Cooter" has put the letter in the box outside the door, so that her husband has not received it. She destroys the letter, and the family is happily reunited.
