The big produce and poultry interests are upholding the high cost of their stock, thus placing them beyond the reach of the working man, who, at the approach of Thanksgiving finds but a meager fare on the table. The mayor summons before him this body of grafters and asks them as a favor to lower the prices for the benefit of the people. They laugh him to scorn. Then his honor buys up produce and poultry on all sides. Then he goes into the marketplace and sells these commodities at a small percentage above cost. The result is disastrous to the "combine;" prices tumble and the people are happy. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
