The hotel keeper's son has been strongly attracted by the soubrette of the company and they plan to use this fact to their advantage. "They offer the boy's parents to take him into their company as an actor if the father will finance them to the next town and cancel their hotel bill. The simple parents are delighted at this proposition. In the next town they have poor success and a great many difficulties. Bills pour in and the hotelkeeper, now box office man, is broke. The trunks of the company are attached, and the old man at last realizes that he is in bad. He breaks with the company and, having no funds, wires home to his wife for money to return. He received an answer telling him and his son that he can walk. They accordingly turn their backs upon their late failure and homeward wind their weary way.
