It aims to put into perspective the different issues of production, distribution, and especially creation in the face of the various funding, broadcasting and promotional bodies. This documentary attempts to identify controversies that are not well known to the general public and tries to make viewers aware of the difficulties faced by Quebec directors who want to distance themselves from the script conventions imposed by Hollywood or by our national television network. "À l'insu du plein gré" gives the floor to distinguished personalities of Quebec cinema: Germain Houde, André Turpin, Louis Saïa, Denis Villeneuve, Michel Brault, Robert Morin, Juliette Ruer, Alexis Martin, Michel Coulombe, Micheline Lanctôt, Denis Chouinard... Questions are also put to representatives of the two main institutions of the film industry in Quebec, Telefilm Canada and SODEC. See less
