This is granted and he starts out for a real rest. He arrives in a small town and boards with people by the name of Morton. Mollie, the daughter, reminds him of the girl he left behind him when he went on the stage. That evening the girl plays and sings for Julian, and he is surprised to find that she has a really remarkable voice. He tells her parents that she has a wonderful voice, and sends for a great impresario to come to hear her. Jack Wilson, the girl's sweetheart, fears that when Mollie is a great artist she will forget all about him. Of course she kisses away his objections, but Julian sees that it will be a repetition of his case and begins to doubt. Later Bonnelli comes in response to Julian's letter. But before the trial Julian tells him what to say. So when the moment comes and the whole family assembles to hear the verdict, the impresario says that, although she has a very pretty voice, she can never be a real operatic singer. He then takes Julian aside and tells him that the girl's voice is the finest he has ever heard. He asks Julian why he has sacrificed the girl's voice, and the latter says that the girl's love for her sweetheart is worth a thousand operatic careers, and tells of how his love was sacrificed on the altar of art. Julian now makes a sudden resolution, and goes back to the girl who has waited for him all these years. Mildred, now grown gray, says that she knew he would keep his promise and come back, and the picture ends with the happy reunion of the pair. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
