Mrs. Colonel finds her maid in the hall making love to a private, and sees a chance of deluding the Colonel into the belief that he was mistaken. So she instructs him to make a noise under the Colonel's window so that he will see that he is not dressed according to the regulations, she having made him take off his sword. The Colonel on looking out notices this and calls him up and is about to reprimand him when he sees the sword is now on the soldier's belt, having meantime been replaced with the help of the Colonel's wife. This happens again and the Colonel begins to think his eyesight is really leaving him and he tells his wife that his eyes are not what they were and that he was mistaken in the first place.
