The three Don chose, while all different, have one common trait that makes them successful now and thus make them candidates for future success: they each have a purpose for which they strive, and place the effort into achieving that purpose. Nick, on the other hand, can't even seem to finish the side table he is working on for woodwork, let alone what he will do tomorrow or what his plans for the future in general are. For the first time really thinking about it, Nick can see in his mind what each of the three chosen to succeed will be doing in their adult lives, while his own future right now he can only see ending up badly in he having no purpose. Taking the first step, he decides to make plans for the table, and it eventually turning into what he envisioned in the plan may provide him some impetus to think about his future. Written by
