The boys become fast friends in spite of the colonial system that encourages separating the two cultures. When Hamida dies because of medical neglect, Renaud feels the first pangs of social and cultural injustice. His first stirrings of social awareness have Renaud vow not to be prejudiced like his grandfather in this sentimental drama with an anti-colonialist message. Written by brahamdali See less
