The ensign denies it is the daughter's ring and the Commander leaves for the exclusive boarding school to ascertain the truth. Billy the gob volunteers to get the ring to the daughter before the arrival of her father. In the wild chase Billy arrives first, gains entrance to the school with difficulty, but has difficulty in finding the daughter. He is summarily dismissed from the premises a number of times, as the Commander awaits the arrival of his daughter in the reception room. Eventually the girl is brought before her father who demands to see the ring. The girl, with her hands behind her, backs before a huge grandfather's clock in which Billy is secreted. To her surprise he slips the ring on her finger and she proudly exhibits it for her father, who departs cursing himself for a suspicious old fool.
