The reason for the lull in Bob's profession is that all of his predecessors have been forced to leave town by the village bad man who resents any attention to his sweetheart, even though she is by nature a vamp and does most of the love-making. Undismayed by several warnings from prominent citizens, Bob opens his office and Eugenia, the vamp, immediately starts in to ensnare him despite the fact that Bob's affection leans toward Thelma who is a regular girl. The vamp's actions again provoke the wrath of the town bad man who attempts to chase Bob out of his office. However, Bob turns the table on the villain with the aid of some laughing gas and his pseudo-bravery wins him the girl and the esteem of his fellow townsmen.
