Pretty women, brainy beauties and marriageable opportunities are so rare in the thinly populated wild western districts, that a candidate having the two former attributes, is sure to arouse admiration that will bring about conflicts of rivals. When dainty Mollie puts her foot over the threshold of the schoolroom, the entire board of school trustees conspire to propose to her. While they are united in this determination, they are generous enough to individualize and allow her the privilege of choosing between them. She has a sense of humor, cleverness and sentiments all her own, and her sweetheart, Bill Swift, has outdistanced all rivals without their knowing it. She puts up a job with him on them and arranges a shooting match, the best marksman to be the winner. Bill supplies her with blank cartridges, so that the only sensation registered by the shooting upon the trustees is the recoil of their guns upon their own shoulders. They are but slightly sore over the results, honors being even, but are real hurt when Bill tells them that he is the real one and has arranged to marry Mollie. They are still doubtful, and follow the pair to the preacher's house and witness the ceremony through the window. At the conclusion they "shoot up" the air in disgust and disappointment and retire to their shacks, vowing to continue their bachelorhood. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
