He finds Arthur staggering through the streets and takes him to his room to sleep it off. Inspired to generosity by the booze, Arthur insists that Paddy take his wallet and go out and have a good time. The street sweeper puts on his glad rags and starts for the beach with the money and the letter of introduction to some girls which Arthur's sweetheart had given him. Arriving at the summer resort, he finds himself the center of attraction, until a lifeguard comes along. Paddy bribes the man to let him have his suit. Then he buys some paint to make him look tanned. The girls all fall for him, that is, all but Gypsy, who comes along to interfere with Paddy's notions of a perfect day. He takes the young lady aside and explains, however, that she must keep quiet for Arthur's sake. In the meantime, the young spendthrift has awakened in Paddy's room, and is hastening via police patrol straight to the point where the sweeper is enjoying himself. Gypsy and Arthur are reunited, and Paddy gets off as easy as could be expected. Written by
