Here, for the first time, he tries to live as an outsider, distancing himself from local problems. But he can only remain passive for a short time. The obsession of Director Kecskés, who is working on a solution to a serious water shortage, captivates him, and soon they are working together to find the best solution, defying the bureaucracy. A friendship soon develops between the two fanatics, who will do anything and sacrifice everything for a good cause, and Bene finally finds his lost love, in the form of Eti, a young pretty lady.
