Pat Corey (Marguerite Churchill), a reporter on the local newspaper, has been Dan's girlfriend but she falls in love with Martin. The latter refuses to accept any city-repair work which involves kickback payments to a couple of crooked politicians, but Dan is apparently willing to do so.
