Rose later marries Clyde Bainbridge, a rotter who knows that under the terms of a secret contract, Rose will inherit the Talbot iron-works. Rose finds the contract but, mistrusting her husband, does not make use of it. Talbot marries a vamp, who later dies in childbirth. Clyde is accidentally killed by Rose's demented grandfather.
