Luella was a good girl and had taken prizes at the Mission Sunday School, but she was Plain. She found employment in a Hat factory. Mary was different. She lacked industry and Application. Finally she got a job as cashier in a lunch room. Soon her datebook had to be kept on the Double Entry System. She turned them all down for a Bucket Shop Man. who had lots of Coin, and went to live in a flat with a Quarter-sawed Oak Chiffonier. She was Mae at this stage of the game, and took Luella away from the Hat factory and made her assistant Cook. Moral: Industry and Perseverance bring a sure reward.
