Dougherty, Deputy Commissioner of Police, in charge of the Detective Bureau, allows millionaire James B. Maxwell and his daughter Vera to tour police headquarters with his assistant, Dick Vernon. Some time later, Maxwell and his chauffeur are knocked unconscious when a $50,000 necklace that the millionaire has bought for his daughter is stolen. The driver of the crooks's car was Ben Morgan, recently released from prison, and a reluctant participant in the crime. Dougherty takes on the case with Vernon attending to details. Eventually the jewels are recovered and the thieves apprehended. Vernon marries Vera, with Dougherty and Maxwell joining them together with handcuffs. Written by Pamela Short See less
