Shemeka Wright is an actress and filmmaker with over 20 years of experience and more than 30 film and television credits. Known for emotionally grounded performances and character-driven storytelling, her work consistently centers resilience, depth, and human complexity.

She is best known for directing and writing More Than One (2019), leading as Avery Simone in Unshaken: The Knock (2025), and her breakout role as Michelle Green in Lifetime’s Secrets in the Building (2022). Her performance as June in June’s Crown (2023) premiered at the American Black Film Festival, further establishing her as a compelling dramatic presence on screen.

Behind the camera, Wright has directed over a dozen short films, including More Than One, Since I Was Five (2025), SICK (2025), and What the Hell Is Your Name Again? (2025). Her directing style is rooted in cinematic realism, emotional truth, and bold, character-first storytelling.

Her latest project, Unshaken: The Knock, is a vertical drama and suspense proof-of-concept that she wrote, produced, directed, and stars in. The project is positioned for expansion into a larger series and reflects her commitment to creating stories on her own terms.

A member of the Television Academy’s Performers Peer Group, Wright is based in California. She is the founder of Wright Positive Films and the creator of Balanced Life with Shemeka on YouTube.
