Resume:
  • * Growing up in an Air Force family, Ken Lemm travelled extensively in his youth and developed a love for reading and architecture, prompting him to pursue a career in landscape architecture. After creating a successful design business, Ken was able to pursue his first love, writing.

Ken Lemm has been writing his whole life, with his first novella “Dear and The,” a POW drama written in eighth grade, and several short stories published in literary journals.

He began screenwriting in 2011, and his first script, “Drum,” an action/romance feature, was a winner in the highly regarded Industry Insider contest co-sponsored by producer Simon Kinberg.

Ken has completed more than two dozen feature screenplays and had four award-winning feature films (A HORSE FOR SUMMER, THE SPARROWS: NESTING, SAVED BY GRACE, and FISHES 'N LOAVES), three theatrical trailers, and two award-winning short films produced, as well as completing four writer-for-hire assignments, including screenplay adaptations for producers Jason Blumenthal (Seven Pounds, Pursuit of Happyness) and David L. Snyder (Blade Runner). TAKE TWO FOR FAITH, and ANOTHER TANGO are currently in post-production for Winter, 2017 release.

Three additional projects are currently in pre-production, including “The Robinsons,” a family adventure film for Harvey Lowry and Ascension Media.

Much of Ken’s writing focuses on family-friendly fare, with each of his projects to date earning the highest ratings from The Dove Organization for family viewing.

His screenplays have garnered over three dozen awards from groups such as; Action on Film International Film Festival, International Christian Film Festival, International Family Film Festival, Beverly Hills Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, and the Page Awards.

Reviews
  • * Mary Krell-Oishi, award winning screenwriter:
"Ken Lemm has been my role model as a screenwriter for the past several years. He handles his career with clear eyes and keeps things moving. He is an inspiration. And now, even more so, I admire his determination to be in control of his future, not leaving it in the hands of others."
Bruce D. Johnson, multi-Emmy Award winning producer, CEO of Foxfield Entertainment, LLC
"Ken Lemm has a great feel for the types of romantic comedies that both touch the heart and bring a smile. I'm excited to be in business with him."
    DRUM:
"Thanks for letting read "Drum." Ken, I must say you had me from page 1. That rarely happens these days. It's a very strong script." Steve Gerbson Productions 1/13/15
    AUBERGINE:
I was very excited to receive this wonderful review on 5-15-12 from a judge at a major competition for my short screenplay AUBERGINE.
"There is a lyrical, almost poetic quality about "Aubergine" that makes a second read an absolute necessity, as there is a lot of nuance in the script that can be missed on first glance. The primary success of "Aubergine" is its decision to keep its scope and focus small instead of trying to be too ambitious in the short form. This interesting portrait/character study of Dee's conflicted emotions is poignant in its minimalism, and the use of imagery and focus on minutia are nothing short of engrossing. This is definitely the type of short that could be criticized for the fact that "nothing happens," but there is a definite sense that Dee changes from the opening to the close, and the depth of character is certainly there. It is a portrait of a fractured marriage and middle-aged complacency, and there is a deep sadness in its imagery that is truly affecting."
"The script is also wonderfully brief, truly demonstrating that tired maxim "less is more." Additionally, the writing (and the short itself) is remarkably cinematic, and it is the mark of an assured writer that the script doesn't aim too high or try and cram a feature-length plotline into a small number of pages."
"Short, sharp, and controlled, "Aubergine" is a filmic poem that will certainly resonate with an attentive audience."
    THAT GOOD NIGHT
The short screenplay that I wrote for the 50 Kisses Film Competition titled "That Good Night" has been produced by Stare Yildirim and has been receiving fantastic reviews on the www.50kissesfilm.com website:
"THAT GOOD NIGHT is so wonderful! The montage instantly reminded me of the only color sequence in RAGING BULL. Then, for a moment, I hesitated at the choice of having Frank pour a suicidal dose into his hand, but only for a millisecond. Ken! You nearly made me cry with what came next. You are a wonderfully gifted, humane writer. Loved it!!! By the way (Per comments on the site hosting Draft 2): Don't cut the series of shots!! It is so energetic, draws us into Frank's universe, and it is pounding heart of the film, the most dynamic sequence. The rest is inside a nursing home, right? That's fine, but the series of shots illustrates in a flurry of crystal images what matters most to Frank, what he feels he's had and lost, what makes us love him, what draws our empathy in, what makes me want to cry when his daughter comes into the room. It's beautiful Ken, so in my view, you and Stare should leave it all in."
"Incredibly well written, acted, and beautifully shot. Bravo!"
"THAT GOOD NIGHT shines with talent! The writer has so much heart and all followed that heart to create a very moving work"
"Wonderful short! Great performances, beautiful cinematography and such a moving story."
"Tightly written and poignant. Emotions portrayed in ways we will remember. A distinguished work!"
"Such old world charm brought to a universal family theme complimented by the right touch of subtle acting and glorious cinematography. Truly brings the deft script to life!"
"An amazing portrayal of our journey through life ...captures the very essence of the human experience. Deeply touching."
"I loved your film! The cinematography is flawless, the execution beautiful, actors are insanely likeable!"
"Lovely film. The opening sequences flowed beautifully. Wonderful writing expressing so much in a short period of time. Loved it."
"One of the best films on here. A poetic film with good pacing with a soft underlying score. Good build up with subtle acting and especially a very touching end portrayed very well by the actress."
"It was beautiful and touching. What a fantastic writer. To be able to deliver so much emotion and remind you how one moment of love, one act of selfless kindness can bring someone back from the edge. Forgiveness can sometimes save us from ourselves. Well done! I want more!"
