Additional Resume Info (submitted by page owner via IMDb Resume)

  • * John Horrigan won five Boston/New England Emmy® Awards in his role (from September, 2011 - November, 2016) as host, writer and co-creator of the TV show "The Folklorist".

In 2015, he won for "Performer/Narrator" and "Writer - Program"; in 2014 for best "Program/Special"; in 2013 for "Host/Moderator" and in 2012 for best "Promotion Program".

In all, John has received twenty Boston/New England Emmy® Award nominations, twelve Telly Awards, seven Communicator Awards and a national first place award for Arts & Entertainment from the Alliance of Community Media in both 2015 and 2016.

Horrigan is a prolific historical researcher and author who offers over 100 different lecture titles on American history, military history, astronomy, historical weather and economics.

He is frequently referred to as a “New England Folklorist” and is a former colonial re-enactor with the Lincoln Minutemen. John is a member of the historical re-enacting collaborative “Solo Together” (where he has portrayed Alexander Hamilton) and appeared on National Public Radio’s “Studio 360” in 2013.

For the past 25 years, John has served as a professional sports announcer for thousands of celebrity events at countless arenas and stadiums across the United States and Canada that featured current and former members of several major league sports franchises including the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New York Giants, New York Jets, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Hartford Whalers, Russia Gazprom; Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and NHL Alumni All Stars.

His greatest thrill was announcing both a hockey and baseball game at Fenway Park, calling the "Legends Winter Hockey Classic" in January of 2010 as well as working the public address for a Boston Red Sox game in June of 2012. He recently served as an interviewer at the 2015 Legends Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts and has performed in thousands of venues and virtually every arena in New England and Atlantic Canada.

Since 1993, John has performed in over 600 comedy basketball games for the Harlem Magicians, Harlem Rockets, Harlem Wizards, Harlem Hoopsters and Court Jesters and he announced a Comedy Basketball Legends All Star Game with members of the Harlem Globetrotters at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA in 2013. He has also served as the New England Patriots basketball announcer since 1994.

Horrigan hosted "Atlantic Boxing Television" that featured "The Fighter" Micky Ward and "Hurricane" Peter McNeeley. A ten-sport announcer, Horrigan has served as the Master of Ceremonies at hundreds of celebrity golf tournaments, including the prestigious Audi quattro Cup in Boston, New York and Philadelphia.

As his full-time profession he serves as a program manager for an engineering division that designs electronic medical devices (and his projects have reaped over $850 million in revenue), in addition to his five other part-time professions (sports announcing, historical lecturing, author/writer, master of ceremonies and narrator/voice-over artist).
