Ru Hasanov is an Azerbaijani film director, screenwriter, producer and editor. He graduated from Bates College, USA with a degree in Theater and obtained a Master's Degree in Directing for Cinema & TV from the High Courses for Directors and Scriptwriters in Moscow. His debut feature Chameleon co-directed with Elvin Adigozel was nominated for the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival in 2013 and his sophomore film The Island Within won Heart of Sarajevo for Best Director in 2020. Ru was CEO of Baku-based Debut Film Studios and interim CEO of ARCA (National Film Agency of Azerbaijan). EAVE graduate and member of the European Film Academy.
