    BIOGRAPHY:
    Richard originally trained as an actor at one of the top drama schools in the UK; the Arts Educational Schools London, which at the time was run by a talented faculty of ex Drama Centre students and teachers. Upon graduation he worked as an actor in various West End, Off West End, London Fringe and UK Touring Productions, trained with Cicely Berry (RSC, London), Catherine Clouzet (Berliner Essemble) and worked as an actor in London for 5 years.
    He also spent 3 years in Los Angeles working as an actor and acting teacher of the Michael Chekhov technique. He taught this acting method at The Acting Corps, LA and continued training as an actor and teacher in the Michael Chekhov approach with Hugh O’Gorman at the University of Southern California and with MICHA (Michael Chekhov Association) headed by famed acting coach and Hollywood and Broadway casting director Joanna Merlin in LA and NYC.
    Whilst in LA Richard also trained at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio, the Howard Fine Studio with Howard Fine and the Meisner technique with Jeff Kober.
    In New York City, Richard spent 2 years training with Terry Schreiber at the T.Schreiber Studio, with Elizabeth Kemp of The Actors Studio, NYC and Meisner technique with Bill Esper at the William Esper Studio. He continued training with MICHA and played a lead role in an Off-Broadway play directed by Broadway director Terry Schreiber, in Simon Stephens' "Harper Regan". The production was nominated for 'Best Revival of a Play' at the New York Innovative Theatre Awards.
    He also played the lead in a short film "Leecher" directed by NYU Tisch graduate Yonatan Weinstein which is currently doing the international film festival circuit.
    Back in Australia, Richard studied Practical Aesthetics, leading to a masterclass with William H. Macy. He also trained with Dany Legler, master Michael Chekhov instructor and long time assistant to Chekhov’s right hand man; George Shdanoff, the Yat Malmgren technique with Penelope Chater from the Drama Centre, London and the Meisner technique with Scott Williams from The Impulse Company, London. He participated in masterclasses taught by Ellen Burstyn, Susan Batson and Larry Moss and audited masterclasses by Ivana Chubbuck, Ian Rickson and Simon Callow.
    Richard also completed the full-time acting programme at 16th Street Actors Studio and was a co-founder of Camelbite Theatre at the Belvoir St Theatre; Sydney, Red Stitch Actors Theatre; Melbourne and West East Theatre at Forty Five Downstairs; Melbourne.
    He played a lead role in ‘Lily’, directed by Kasimir Burgess, which won the Crystal Bear Award for Best Short Film at the Berlin International Film Festival (61st Berlinale), won the Gold Award for Best Cinematography at the Australian Cinematography Awards for Ari Wegner, won a Special Jury Mention at the Tehran International Film Festival, Iran, was nominated for Best Direction at the Grand OFF World Independent Film Festival, Poland and was a finalist for the Ingmar Bergman Award at the 30th Uppsala International Film Festival, Sweden. It has also been selected for numerous international film festivals, including MIFF (Melbourne International Film Festival), Flickerfest - Sydney, Hamburg, Moscow and Palm Springs film festivals, as well as screening regularly on ABC TV.
    Richard also played the lead in two Australian Nation-wide tv commercials for 'Medibank - #GenBetter' and 'Shannon's Car Insurance', the supporting role of Ted in the feature film 'Healing' starring Hugo Weaving and directed by Craig Monahan, the lead role of Simon Ward in the feature film 'Wedgetail', directed by Greg Blakey, and the guest role of Carl Laidley in 'The Doctor Bake Mysteries' - Season 2 for ABC, BBC and PBS television.
    “Healing” was selected for the Seattle International Film Festival, “The Doctor Blake Mysteries” won a Bronze Award for ‘Best Drama in the World’ at the New York Film and Television Awards and "Wedgetail" recently won a Best Feature Film Award at the 5th Indian Cine Film Festival, India and was also selected for the 35th Long Island International Film Festival; New York and the Great Message International Film Festival, India.
    When not acting, Richard teaches Vedic Meditation and the Michael Chekhov technique.
