  • * Writer and filmmaker Turk Pipkin is a co-founder of The Nobelity Project
    and the director of three feature docs about global problems and solutions.
    His latest film, Building Hope, tells the story of The Nobelity Project’s
    partnership with a rural Kenyan community to build the area's first high
    school and was the winner of the 2011 Lone Star Audience Award at SXSW Film
    Fest.

    He is also the author of ten works of fiction and nonfiction, including the
    NY Times bestseller, The Tao of Willie, co-authored with Willie Nelson. The
    film version of his novel When Angels Sing, starring Harry Connick, Jr.,
    Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Connie Britton, will have a world
    premiere at the 2013 SXSW Film Fest.

    Turk is also the director of the feature docs Nobelity and One Peace at a
    Time, and was the writer of Willie Nelson: Still is Still Moving, primetime
    Emmy award winner for the PBS series American Masters,

    The Nobelity Project (at www.nobelity.org) works with Nobel laureates and
    other leaders to advocate basic rights for children everywhere. Through
    their Kenya Schools Fund, The Nobelity Project builds classrooms, water
    systems and libraries at schools across rural Kenya.

    As an actor, he is known for a recurring role on HBO’s The Sopranos, as
    well as other appearances in Friday Night Lights, The Alamo, Angels Sing,
    Scanner Darkly, Waiting for Guffman and many others.
