Reaching her limit of vulnerability and feeling all alone in the world, she befriends Lisa Dawson, a quiet kid her own age who has recently lost her loving mother and now lives an equally dark home life with her sexually abusive father. Two years later, both now 17, Jenny and Lisa are the best of friends, still there for each other through thick and thin, helping to overcome insurmountable obstacles, one after the other.
