He clears out Jan's apartment, the place of a man whom he had not known for a long time. During their lifetime they never had a close relationship and therefore in the beginning everything appears strange and unknown to Thomas. He starts to follow Jan's traces and starts to take on his identity, meeting Jan's acquaintances and begins to understand him while simultaneously discovering something new about himself.
