Haruka asks if she can take over running Diamondhead, and raising Makoto, and Keiko agrees. Hiromi has fallen into a blue funk. Kaito finally confesses that the whole reason he quit his job was to come watch Hiromi. No matter how bad things got Hiromi would always laugh it off "since it's summer." Kaito felt Hiromi knew a life he'd never seen. Hiromi thanks Kaito, and agrees that it is time to move on. Kaito phones Sakura to tell her he's coming home. "Vacation is over." Hiromi breaks the news to Makoto, telling her to find an even cooler guy. Everyone is sad to see the two of them leave. Hiromi drives Kaito to the station, and they say their farewells.
