One barfly, Charles, a penniless bi-polar writer, begins to un-hinge when his unrequited lover, Alice, returns to the bar to sing. The night climaxes with an ecstatic performance of 'In Walked Bud' by Atlanta's most accomplished jazz musicians. Bud, the recently 'stabbed in the brain with a fork' horn player who can now only play sad ballads, morphs this upbeat tune into a beautiful melancholy improvisation that breaths hope into Jerome's suicidal soul.
