Some want to win not for its own sake but to beat others. Caroline Blackburn is second on the list to host the dinner party, she who admits the process will either be a roaring success or an utter disaster. Her menu consists of scallops in herb pesto as the starter, poached sea bass with sauce vierge as the main course, and lemon meringue pie for dessert. The food preparation ends up being a mixture of successes and failures, the failures which she soldiers on with anyway and which garners a favorable reaction from her guests.
