The press publishes her whereabouts, and the gentlemen flock thither to offer homage. The widow and her niece decide to exchange names. Joe falls in love with Edith, believing her to be her aunt and Max and Will, suddenly discovering, as they believe, that the object of Joe's attentions is the woman of whom they are in quest, transfer their flatteries to Edith. Joe, Max and Will refuse to let Charlie, whose personal charms exceed their own, go anywhere near the supposed widow. Meanwhile, Mrs. Moneybag, solitary and neglected, wanders off toward her hotel. She meets Charlie in the wood and they walk together. There develops a case of love at first sight, and the pair steal off to be married. Edith, a few hours later, tells her admirers that she is not Mrs. Moneybag. They promptly desert her, starting off full-pelt toward the inn. They are barely in time to intercept Mrs. Moneybag-that-was, to whom they offer in a single breath their hearts and hands. She coolly announces that already she has shed her widowhood and has become the pride of the man who loves her for herself alone. Written by
