Mason discovers that Julia waited for him on the 1st January in his office. He organises a candlelit dinner and sends for her under a false pretence to ensure her presence. He proves to be ambitious and makes love with Julia on a sofa. Gus gets a job as a waiter in the Orient Express. But after his day ends, he learns from Eden that he was hired for the day and in spite of his great work there, he is not engaged. Gus gets worked up with Eden and hurts his hand by hitting it against a wall. At night, a black man wearing a balaclava bursts into the restaurant empties and hides the takings of the day from Eden's hands. He hits her, as well as Mark, the maître d'hotel. Cruz arrives. Nobody is hurt, and Mark hastens to accuse Gus. The policemen arrive at Gus's to arrest him. Alice, who is present with him, panics. See less
