Unable to speak or read English, he thinks the card contains an address. Expecting to be directed, he hands the card to whomever he meets. To his surprise, each person who reads the card drops it, hands him their valuables and dash off yelling "police." What he considers good fortune, he learns is bad, for he is arrested and dragged to jail, where he is charged with highway robbery and is about to be thrown into a cell when an officer enters with the jokers, having overheard them boasting of their cleverness.
