In ...See more"For the benefit and enjoyment of the people" are the words engraved in stone over the huge archway that is the entrance to our National Park. These words sprung from the lips of Cornelius Hedges on the night of September 19th, 1870. In viewing the pictures one is taken through the regular route going through the park today, from the entrance at Gardner, Mont., through the "Golden Gate," to the grandeur of the Grand Canyon. Hell's Half Acre, the Firehole and Old Faithful, Riverside, and the Castle Geyser are all shown in action. Views of the park hotels, such as Old Faithful Inn, the largest log structure in the world, and one of the most unique hotels in existence are also shown. But all these marvels of interest are dwarfed in comparison with the Grand Canyon, the Upper and Lower Falls, the awe-inspiring view from Artist Point, and the spot on the edge of the yawning chasm with the river trickling below.
