Bolton, of the Universal Oil Company, urges the man to sell out to him. Walker, Bolton's right-hand man, fascinates Millie, Thompson's daughter, and induces the girl to use her influence over her father in furtherance of the Universal's scheme. Langley Thompson's boyhood chum upsets their plans. Millie conceives a dislike for Langley who in turn falls in love with her. Bolton discovers that Thompson's lease expires at noon on June 30th, unless he should strike oil by that time. Due to the man's machinations, Thompson is unable to secure men to work for him. Thompson and Langley tackle the job themselves. Even Millie dons overalls and turns to. The night before the expiration of the lease, Bolton's men succeed in blocking the well shaft. Langley discovers what has happened the following morning. Millie is sent to get nitro-glycerin with which to blow out the obstruction. Walker discovers her errand and in his attempt to prevent her from returning to the well, the girl ascertains his true character. Bolton and Walker arrive shortly before noon and order the lessee to leave. Thompson and Langley take one more chance. Just as the clock begins to strike, they drop the nitro-glycerin into the well.
