Father catches Bessie's sweetheart Billy Bones, putting a ring on her finger and throws him out. Lotta is washing her pet dog "Itches" in the bathtub and the dog throws some soap in Alice's eyes. He runs out into the parlor where Bessie and Billy are again making love. The dog shakes himself and gives them a bath. Billy runs after the dog, who runs into garden where Dad and Mother are having a pleasant chat. The dog again shakes himself and Dad and Mother get all wet. Billy is looking for the dog, but can't find him. He takes the garden hose to drink from, just as Dad comes on, seeing Billy drinking water, he thinks it was he who had squirted the water on him, and kicks him around the garden. Brutus Beanpole Alice's sweetheart calls to see her in his flivver. He chains the flivver to a stump in the ground. In so doing he drops the bouquet which he had brought for his "sweet". He comes into the house, kisses his sweetheart, hands her the flowers, and hides his face. She smells the flowers and gets her face full of mud. Alice throws the flowers at Brutus and runs away angry. She runs into the parlor, sits down on the settee and cries. Brutus takes the flowers out of the vases, brings them to Alice and begs forgiveness. She forgives him and washes his face for him. Father comes into the house and sees Brutus and throws him out. Alice runs after her sweetheart and they jump into his flivver, but had forgotten it was chained. The back wheel goes round and round kicking the mud into Dad's face. Dad goes to the pool to wash his face. Brutus gets out of the flivver, unchains the wheel and throws the stump away. The stump hits Dad bending over the pool and throws him in. This infuriates Dad and he chases them. They have a great deal of motor trouble. Brutus gets under the car, just as a water-wagon comes along, and washes Brutus into the sewer, but gets out of a man-hole. They get in the car again, ride away, with Dad running after them. The flivver bounces so much that Alice is thrown out and lands on a rope strung from two poles. Then Dad gets her and brings her home. Dad then puts the two girls into a boarding school. While at the school, the girls have boxing matches. The sweethearts disguise themselves as girls and gain entrance into the school. Their identity is discovered, and the boarding school mistress chases Bull after them. Alice and her sweetheart, and Bessie and her sweetheart jump into the flivver which is again tied to a tree. The flivver is ripped in two leaving the Billy and Bessie in one half and Alice and Brutus in the other. Billy manages to chain the two parts together again and they ride into eternal happiness.
