After two weeks, the bad lads generally master chores and get progress report interviews, for several quit encouraging, even for life in general. Next exercises day's long march includes a river crossing, malingering attempts by John Kyprianou -the medic lost count- and Townsend only get aggro from staff and comrades, while good examples inspire the sections, only the malingerers hinder a collective platoon arrival. Next there's boxing training, for next day's section competition, maybe something the fat lads could do well. It's a bonding hit, except for incorrigible malinger Townsend, who is in jail but unrepentant and shows no guilt; he's allowed to quit, but must strip and is soiled by his scorned 'mates'.
