The Royal tax collector is waylaid and robbed by Robin and his band of men, and news of the incident reaches the Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John. Marian warns Robin that an archery contest is indeed a trap, but he enters anyway. Robin wins the tournament and is immediately arrested. The Merry Men launch a rescue which culminates in a sword fight with the Sheriff. Robin defeats the Sheriff, escaping back to Sherwood Forrest and further adventures.
