J. Burke. Kennedy is confronted by Alice Woodwine, a frightened girl seeking his aid,and Kennedy is knocked unconscious by an unseen assailant. The mystery deepens when Kennedy identifies the girl as the wealthy heiress pictured in one of Jameson's news stories. Jameson, ostensibly on an interview assignment, discovers that the girl is held in terror by three scheming servants who are plotting a gigantic fraud.
