Miguel Fernando, a Portuguese trader, being jealous of Jack, induces the crew to rise up in mutiny on Jack's next voyage. Jack is cast adrift in a rowboat, and lands on a deserted island. Two years later he returns home to find that Fernando has betrayed and deserted Mary. To save her name, Jack marries her. The child is born and shortly after Mary dies.
