He sits down on a curbstone to eat his bit of bread for lunch, and later ...See moreBobby, a poor "newsie," reads in a paper that the Prince and Princess of Italy are visiting the country on a mission of state, and longs to see a real princess. He sits down on a curbstone to eat his bit of bread for lunch, and later overhears a couple of Italians conspiring to blow up the prince and princess as they land from the steamer. Bobby is captured by the conspirators, but manages to escape and follows the bomb thrower to the pier. Just as the Italian is about to throw the bomb Bobby grabs his arm, and, taking the lighted bomb away from him, jumps off the dock with it, and puts it out thus saving the prince's and princess's life. He is brought to their apartments by a policeman and the prince pins a medal of honor on Bobby's breast, while the princess stretches out her arms, and tells Bobby to kiss her. Bobby reaches out his arms to her, and wakes up on the curbstone with a policeman bending over him and Bobby trying to kiss the policeman and fumbling for the medal that isn't there.
