Nevertheless, he is plagued by the first symptoms of a midlife crisis. His marriage to Elisabeth has broken down, and he doesn't get along too well with his son Noah. Meanwhile, Frank's much younger lover, the teacher Ira, is telling him that he should finally come clean to his wife. As if that weren't enough to worry about, Frank receives a surprising call from a retirement home in the middle of preparations for his 50th birthday: his father, whom he has never met, wants to see him again before he dies. However, in the retirement home, the astonished Frank does not find a terminally ill old man, but rather a rather sprightly older gentleman. What he doesn't suspect is that Gustav isn't his father at all, but a tramp who made himself comfortable in the deceased's bed. Since Gustav doesn't clear up the mistake, Frank takes him home with him. Elisabeth and Noah immediately like their supposed "father-in-law" and "grandpa". With his idiosyncratic advice, the charming tramp really shakes up the Fausters' staid family life. There is only one problem for Gustav, who feels completely at home in his role: his mother Hannelore is also expected at Frank's big birthday party. In order not to be discovered as an impostor, Gustav tells his "ex-wife" that he is an actor who is supposed to impersonate Frank for Noah's high school graduation prank. At first the old lady plays along. But of course it is only a matter of time before the truth comes to light during the extremely turbulent birthday celebration. Gustav quietly and secretly leaves the chaotic party. At first there is great excitement at the family table. But eventually the whole family realizes that they only managed to overcome their family problems with the help of the clever Gustav. Only: Where is Gustav now? Written by ADR Das Erste See less
