At the Lotus Ball, she meets Tom Marston. After the ball he escorts her home. He calls on her, proposes and is accepted, chiefly because he is a millionaire. At the Lotus Club, Ned Connor, his boyhood friend, takes him aside and tells him that the woman he is going to marry is absolutely heartless. Marston refuses to believe it. A few days later, he and Grace are married and leave on their honeymoon trip. While on their honeymoon, Marston's wife treats him very coldly. After their return, he determines to learn if she really is heartless. He shows her a fake telegram from his mine manager, reporting the mines are played out and they are ruined. She coolly draws a large check on her private bank account and gives it to him. Determined to break through her reserve, he continues the deception, at last telling her they must leave their beautiful home. She agrees to go with him wherever he may choose. They take a cheap apartment and one day, Houston, one of her old suitors, follows her home and tries to induce her to elope with him. She refuses. Her husband enters and overhears them. When Huston attempts to force his attentions upon Grace, Marston takes him by the scruff of the neck and throws him out of the place. He then turns to Grace, opens his arms, and their lips meet in a passionate kiss. He knows his wife is sincere; her love has stood the crucial test. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
