The passengers camp out in the hills that night, not knowing that an Indian has been watching them, and he returns to his tribe to inform them of the passengers' plight. When the stage fails to show up in Boone City, the sheriff deputizes two local men and sends them out with his deputy to search for it. They; find the stage and the dead driver but no passengers.
