Fearing that her heart may change toward him she gets her doctor to order her a trip to Egypt for the benefit of her health. Rex also goes to Egypt to seek solitude, not knowing that she is there. They meet one day on the veranda of the hotel where both are staying. Madge and her aunt, Miss Peterson, engage a guide to show them over some ancient ruins, in spite of Rex telling them that it will be dangerous for them to go without a male escort. Their guide, Abdul, is a faithful, honest fellow, but nonetheless they are attacked by a baud of beggars as they return. Rex, who has followed them, effects a rescue and escorts them back to the hotel. In the fight with the beggars Abdul is wounded and afterward Madge dresses his wound and treats him with every kindness, as a result of which Abdul conceives a violent passion for her. After he has recovered from his wounds Madge asks Abdul to take her and her aunt to visit the tombs of the ancient Egyptian kings, again disregarding the warning of Rex, who follows them. He finds Miss Peterson outside the tomb, greatly alarmed at the long absence of Madge and Abdul, who have penetrated into the tombs and left her there to await their return. Rex enters the tomb and is just in time to save Madge from Abdul, who attempts to take her in his arms and cover her with caresses. That night Madge goes to Rex and tells him that she has decided that she needs a man's care after all and begs him to renew the engagement. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
