Why did the link from one name go to the page for another?

In some cases, a person who is normally credited under one name will be credited under another. For example, Steven Spielberg was credited as Steven Spielrock in The Flintstones.

Rather than create a a whole separate identity for Mr. Spielrock, the name becomes an alias for Mr. Spielberg. In IMDb Pro, we concentrate on recreating the on-screen credits as accurately as possible, so though we'll list Spielrock on the credits for The Flinstones, Spielrock will be linked to Spielberg.

The exceptions to this rule are the generic aliases of Alan Smithee and George Spelvin, used by filmmakers and actors who wish to remain anonymous. In some cases, we alias Alan and George to the actual people and in some cases we do not.
